Captain Wasserman’s
Classroom Rules and Expectations
1. All work handed in, other than map work, must be done in black or dark blue ink, double-spaced – and typing is always preferred! Students without access to a computer may hand print their work but must double-space it (double spacing: a line of writing, followed by a blank line).
2. No late work will be accepted, unless there is a family emergency involving the cadet or her/his immediate family. A student who waited until the last minute to complete an assignment and whose computer then crashes or whose printer runs out of ink must face the consequences of procrastination.
3. If a student is in class when work is assigned or a test or due date announced, that student is responsible for completing the work on time, even if the student is absent between the day the work is assigned and the day the work is due.
4. I am happy to accommodate students who need extra time on particular assignments, if there is a compelling reason to extend the due date – but students MUST make these arrangements with me before the day the assignment is due!
5. Students with learning deficits are encouraged and expected to be self-advocates – they need to tell me privately (before Formation, before class, during lunch, or after school) what extra accommodations they need from me (preferential seating arrangements, more time on a particular piece of work, help in breaking down a project into manageable pieces, etc.).
6. I am available to offer students extra help after school, by appointment.
7. All work handed in must be neat, clean, legible, and intact (no torn or dangling edges or crumpled sheets of paper). This shows respect for me, the class work of learning, and the cadet doing the work.
8. Make-up work is NOT to be done in class. Students may make up missed quizzes/tests or other in-class assessed work after school (arranging this with me the day they return to school), or during their ROTC period (with the permission of their ROTC instructor).
