Welcome to World History at the Sarasota Military Academy.  I am extremely excited about this semester and I hope you are as well.  Our World’s history is very extensive and we only have one semester to learn as much as possible so I hope that you are ready to take on this great challenge.  Below I have listed the basic outline of this class as well as the expectations that I have for each cadet.  By reading and understanding the way this class will be set up, each cadet will be prepared to achieve the highest level of success in my class.

Independent Reading Book

**Although not required it might be a good idea to invest in a 3-ring hole punch that can fit in the notebook to help keep papers organized as they are returned.  They are reasonably priced and can be found at Wal-Mart or any office supply store.  Click here to see one.

Absences:

Regular attendance in class is essential in order to earn a passing grade.  If it is necessary to miss a class an excuse note must be brought in within 3 school days to excuse the absence and avoid being penalized points toward employability skills.

All missed class work or homework needs to be made up and turned into me in a timely manner.  The rule of thumb is that you get one day to make up work for each day of class that is missed.  IT IS THE CADET’S RESPONSIBILITY TO FIND OUT WHAT WORK IS MISSED AND TO TURN IT IN ON TIME.  Most homework and class work assignments will be posted on my webpage.

Late Work:

If a student does not turn in an assignment when it is collected it is considered late.  For each school day that an assignment is not turned in after the due date I will deduct 10 points from the final grade earned on the assignment.
