Economics

The purpose of the Economics class is to provide students with the knowledge and decision-making tools necessary for understanding how society organizes its limited resources to satisfy its wants. Students will gain an understanding of choices they must make as producers, consumers, investors, and taxpayers.

Students will have the opportunity to complete two projects during the course. The first will be an in-class Economic Survival Financial Simulation activity. This activity will help the students learn to invest money wisely, prepare for the future avoiding cons and frauds, make sound financial decisions, and use their intellect to solve financial problems.

The second activity will be a group activity. In small groups the students will be assigned various financial tasks and careers to research and prepare an in class presentation. They will be required to obtain actual information from financial institutions and car dealerships.

In economics students will have the chance to develop two important consumer skills; 1) to get control of their financial future, and 2) not to let anyone take it away.
