SMA Music Battalion News

First, we want to thank Colonel Kennedy for joining our general booster meeting this past Wednesday. We enjoyed hearing his upcoming plans for SMA and for the Music Battallion!

The Music Battallion will be performing at 1:00 on 5/17 at the school for Colonel Cork's retirement ceremony.

We will be going to Busch Gardens on 5/18. All permission slips should have been turned in to Major Finley this past Monday. We have enough "required" chaperone's at this time for the trip, however, any parent is welcome to come along for the day as long as they are PAL's approved.

We have our first annual Family Fun Day at Sun N Fun on 5/21 from 3-8. Bring the whole family out, RSVP's are needed by May 18th. The boosters will be supplying the dogs & burgers, we need the families to bring a side dish, their own beverages & chairs.

1) The SMA Pipe Band will be performing next Thursday, May 5th, 2011
at noon at JD Hammel Park near downtown Sarasota
as part of the "International Prayer Day" ceremonies.

2) At the SMA Awards Ceremony that was held last Thursday evening on April 21, 2011
at SMA, the following Music Battalion Cadets received the following distinguished awards...

Grant Blackwell - The Florida Music Educators Association All State Honor Band Award
