Welcome to the
Mathematics Department

at Sarasota Military Academy!

It is our goal to provide your child with a fundamentally strong, dynamic and relevant mathematics education. Whether it’s standardized testing (FCAT, SAT, ACT, and AP), future school prerequisites or career plans, we are working hard to meet the needs of each child.

Key to calculators:

Scientific Calculators are recommended for all classes  prior to Algebra II.

TI-83/84 is recommended, not required, for Algebra II.

TI-83/84 is required for all courses beyond Algebra II.

TI-89 is not recommended and discouraged at this time.

To this end, SMA offers three strands of math courses. The first two strands provide a starting point from which students can enter and leave as their educational needs change. Successful completion of each strand provides enough math credits for graduation. Completion of the second strand fulfills the course requirements for the Bright Futures Scholarship. In strand three, students can continue their math studies as encouraged by their interest and future plans.
