EDUCATION ADMINISTRATION 2008 - 2011

As the sole assistant principal at Rock Spring Elementary School, Mr. Daughtry was instrumental in ensuring success for each student by maintaining a consistent classroom presence and often co-teaching mathematics courses with teachers while offering necessary independent tutorial instruction as appropriate to students. Under his co-leadership, the school made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) which initially posed an issue prior to his arrival. He also worked diligently in collaboration with the school council and implemented an ambitious mentoring program known as “Dads R.O.C.K.” geared primarily towards increasing the presence of fathers at the school. In an exclusive interview with the Henry Daily Herald, he stated, “Studies have shown that involvement of a father, or a positive male role model, in the lives of children, has profound effects on them.”

Mr. Daughtry initially served as an assistant principal at the prestigious Union Grove High School - an administrative position abolished as a direct result of reduced student enrollment and local economical challenges. This role was preceded by a position as the first and only Title I Instructional Mathematics Coach at the middle school level in the Henry County School System. In this unique role, he served in an instructional leadership capacity helping teachers to extend their understanding of mathematical knowledge, of instructional strategies, to assess student thinking and to develop effective standards-based units and lessons. He is credited with establishing the first middle grades mathematics online remediation program presently in use across the county.

PFC Daughtry served a one-year tour of duty at Camp Casey, Korea and concluded the remainder of his active duty enlistment at Fort Lewis, Washington where he established permanent residency immediately thereafter. Promptly following the attacks on 911, Mr. Daughtry enlisted for an additional four years in the U.S. Army Reserves. In 2003, Sergeant Daughtry was selected as the 448th Civil Affairs Battalion NCO of the Quarter and later competed in the rigorous one week annual NCO of the Year competition at Fort Hunter Liggett in Monterey, California.
