Captain Callihanemail: matt_callihan@srqit.sarasota.k12.fl.us A good friend of mine is a computer wizard and a pretty decent blues guitarist. As a hobby, he began collecting vintage guitars and amplifiers. Often the amplifiers were temperamental, mostly due to their age. So my friend began to learn how to repair them. He gathered books about amplifier circuits and technical manuals for the amplifiers he owned. As he studied his books and tinkered with his amps, he came to realize that virtually all of the electrical specifications for the amplifiers, and electricity in general, were described using ALGEBRA. “If only I had known that in high school,” he exclaimed, “I would have paid more attention in class!”
