1. Hand out Agendas.
2. Hand out Vocabulary Books and review how the book works.
3. Vocabulary Diagnostic Test, pgs. 18-20
4. Review Chapter 1 Words on PowerPoint.
5. Complete Like the Sun Summary.
Period 2:
1. SAT Question of the Day.
2. Work on Main Ideas Review Tests 1-4, pgs. 73-79 and Main Ideas Mastery Tests 1-6, pgs. 81-92.
Period 4 Honors:
1. Review pre-writing assessment tests.
2. Hand out Vocabulary Books and review how the book works.
3. Vocabulary Diagnostic Test, pgs. 18-20
4. Review Chapter 1 Words on PowerPoint.
5. Read Like the Sun, pp. 848-852 and complete Vocabulary in Action.
Tuesday, August 30
Period 1 & 4 Honors:
1. Hand out this quarter’s journal entries.
2. Complete Journal Entry #1: Why is the following quote imperative to your future? Support your answer: Teachers open the door, but you must enter by yourself.” –Chinese proverb
Period 1:
1. Complete and turn in Like the Sun summary.
2. Hand out Preview questions for The Last Lecture.

1. Begin writing Like the Sun summary.
Period 2:
1. SAT Question of the Day.
2. Grade Main Ideas Tests 1-6, pgs. 73-92.
3. Individually review material with students.
4. Work on make-up assignments or reading program
Thursday, August 25
All Periods:
1. Collect school forms and signatures.
2. Collect any summer book reports for two Eagle cards and to go to the librarian.
Period 1:
1. Return and review diagnostic tests.
2. Read Like the Sun, pp. 848-852.
3. Begin writing class summary following the Reading Program’s summary guidelines.
Period 2:
1. SAT Question of the Day and return books.
2. Complete Vocabulary Review Tests 2 through 4, pgs. 28-36. Grade assignments.
3. Complete and grade Mastery Tests 1-6, pgs. 37-48.
Period 4:
1. Diagnostic Test of Standard Writing English.
2. Review Literature textbook features.
Friday, August 26:
All Periods:
1. Collect school forms and signatures.
Periods 1 & 4:
1. Florida Writes Expository State Practice Test.
Period 2:
1. Begin lesson and review on Chapter 2: Main Ideas. Complete and grade pages 49-71.
Tuesday, August 23
All Periods:
1. Collect school forms and signatures.
Periods 1 & 4:
1. Complete & review peer interviews. Make peer interview presentations and turn in written work.
Period 2:
1. Review Chapters 1 & 2 work.
2. Review Vocabulary Context Clues: examples, synonyms, antonyms and general sense of the sentence of passage.
3. Assign, complete and grade Vocabulary in Context pgs. 15-26.
4. Work in pairs to review and confer on different answers to ascertain the correct answer and why.
