SARASOTA MILITARY ACADEMY SHOOTERS SET THEIR SIGHTS ON
FORT BENNING, GEORGIA AND THE EASTERN REGION CHAMPIONSHIPS AFTER TAKING 1ST PLACE IN 6TH BRIGADE
Army JROTC Rife teams and individuals from the east coast and European Department of Defense Dependant schools system will converge at Fort Benning, Georgia. These young competitors will show off their skills and discipline and compete for the Eastern Region Championships February 9-11, 2006.
Since August, rifle teams have practiced and competed to qualify for this prestigious event. Our shooters have dedicated themselves to reach the next level.
The Screaming Eagles were once again, well represented in the postal qualification match. For the 2nd year in a row, SMA took 1st Place honors in the brigade.
Their top-seeding in brigade qualifies them for the match and a trip to the home of the Army Marksmanship Unit.
We are indeed proud of the accomplishments and commitment of the entire rifle team but we must congratulate those invited to compete. The cadets competing include: Mike Roosa (Sr), Chad Andrews (Jr), Thomas Arbuckle (Jr), Brent Rudisill (Fr), Alex Vasiloff (Jr) and Alex Watson (Sr). You guys definitely are TRACKIN’!
We want to thank all the parents for their continued support of the rifle team. Special thanks to Ms. Andrews and Mr. Hobson for their time and efforts every Wednesday working the Pizza fundraiser. In advance, I’d like to thank Mr Rudisill for his time and assistance traveling with the rifle team to attend another outstanding competition. We’d also like to thank the school and COL Cork for providing the financial resources required for transportation to the competition. Without these efforts and support, the success of our team would be hampered nor would we be able to participate in this event.
