RAIDERS BEGIN
The SMA Raider team has been selected and is off to
a grand beginning. Over fifty cadets tried out for the team and thirty
five were selected. Those cadets who did not score high enough to make
the team are encouraged to keep coming to our practices. They will
continue to do physical training and will be given opportunities every
month to move up.

Those cadets that made the Raider team will now
begin training on technical skills and we will continue to work on their
physical fitness levels. This training will make us more competitive
this year. Congratulations Raiders and lets get motivated. Raiders lead
the way HooAH!
Black Knight Raiders
“Hardcore”
by CSM Mike Collis
Be prepared to be blown away if your caught
standing near the new all female raider team when they decide to call
for a “motivation check”. You will be knocked over by the unbelievable
response. They call themselves “Black Knight Raiders” and if their
bone- rattling roar is any indication of their attitude, watch out.

Dedication, teamwork, and spirit are the hallmarks
for this team, and through these values these cadets are becoming SMA
leaders of tomorrow. First and foremost, they are motivated to win at
all cost. They are willing to spend a great deal of their time
conditioning their minds and bodies becoming tough. They are also
dedicated to applying the lesions they learn at Raider practice and
competitions to their daily lives.

Raider practices are tough, demanding exercises
where the Black Nights are pushed to their limits. Physical fitness is
their mainstay and they are fast becoming the fit cadets at our school.
In addition to becoming extremely fit, they are conditioning their minds
as well. A big part of their training it to master technical skills as
well. Training in Map Reading, First Aid and Military Field Craft are
also incorporated into their practices. It is tough with a capital
“T”. This is no feel good club. Either they hack the challenge, or they
turn in their Battle Dress Uniforms (BDU).
“This is a hard activity that pushes you to your
limits,” said Cadet Kelly Smith, the Black Night leader. We are not
trying to make these young women soldiers; we are instilling a moral and
ethical mindset that will carry them through their lives.
Coach Joe Collis (the Weight Lifting and Team
Sports Instructor) and I are incredibly passionate about what we are
doing and the success we have had. We consider the chance to impact the
lives of these motivated young women an honor and a privilege.
