SMA PRECISION DRILL TEAM

FEMALE U/A SQUAD TAKES FIRST PLACE

AT THE 2012 VFW DRILL MEET

The Sarasota Military Academy Precision Drill Team competed with 25 other schools at the 2012 VFW Drill Meet at Brandon High School on 21 January.  After a day of great weather and competition, Maria Santos and her Female Unarmed Squad came away with the First Place Trophy.  The team members (left to right) are Cadets Brantley, Folts, Crissey, Santos, Davila, Oxboel, and Snell.   The judges remarked that they were particularly impressed with the team’s overall precision and Santos’ command voice.

Additionally, 5 SMA team members earned individual Knock-Out Drill Medals.  In the Armed Knock-Out, Ben Leboutillier took 7^th, Jesse Opperman took 5^th, Liz McKenney took 3^rd, and Stephen Butalla took 1^st.  In the Unarmed Knock-Out, Claudia Scheb took 8^th.
