FIRST SERGEANT (1SG) THOMAS
JROTC LET LEVEL 1 (Freshmen)
My name is First Sergeant Lisa-Marie Thomas, and I am a JROTC instructor for Leadership Education and Training (LET) Level 1, which means I teach Freshmen JROTC classes.
The goal of JROTC is to motivate young people to become better citizens, using the Army model for instruction. Be assured that I am excited about this responsibility, and I am asking you to help me keep your Cadet on track. Please do not hesitate to contact me anytime you have a question or concern. You can send me an e-mail or you can call the school office to contact me by phone (they’ll give you my cell number). No issue is too small, and I sincerely believe there’s no obstacle that can’t be overcome if we communicate and work together throughout your Cadet’s school year.
I have attached a link to my training schedule. Please take the time to take a look at it, as you will be able to see what your Cadet’s doing in JROTC on a daily basis throughout the year; specifically, you’ll be able to see what assignments are due on what dates and when tests are scheduled. We’ll be concentrating on grammar reinforcement in the third quarter, by the way.
Additionally, you can see what uniform your Cadet is required to be in/have available throughout the week (see the last page of the training schedule). I take uniform wear and appearance seriously, as your Cadet is wearing a modified version of the uniform of the U.S. Army. To that end, it may be helpful for you to read the Cadet Manual your Cadet was provided at the beginning of the school year (I talked about it at our first open house). Reading the section on uniform wear and appearance will help you ensure your Cadet is looking as he/she should when they leave the house in the morning. If you have any questions about the proper uniform standards or anything else pertaining to JROTC or SMA, please do not hesitate to call me or e-mail me.
