SARASOTA MILITARY ACADEMY DRUMLINE COURSE DESCRIPTION
Prerequisite: An audition (before the fall semester) would involve a clear understanding
and performance of the first 13 of the 26 American Standard Drum Rudiments.
The purpose of this course is to provide students with the opportunity for growth, development and fulfillment in marching percussion.
Proper playing technique, reinforcement of the rudiments, reading music, ensemble playing and drum maintenance are just a few of the areas of emphasis.

Many performance opportunities are made available for the students to represent the Sarasota Military Academy at the academy campus, at many of the Sarasota County School District elementary schools and at many local community and civic events.
Instrument placement will be determined by the drumline instructor.
Challenges will occur before Christmas Break and before Spring Break.
