Mayor Palmer names SMA Cadets Ambassadors for the City of Sarasota
On April 21st, 2008 at 6:00 pm, twenty-eight SMA students were named Ambassadors for the City of Sarasota and will represent our city in Beijing China for the Olympic pre-game celebrations in June 2008.
This honor is seldom given and we congratulate our cadets for this exciting honor and wish them well!

Dear Sarasota Business Owners, Family and Friends of SMA:
The Sarasota Military Academy (SMA) has been bestowed a great honor. We have been invited to participate in the pre Olympic Game ceremonies in Beijing, China in June of 2008. SMA is the only public charter military high school in the United States. Our cadets (grades 9-12) are some of the finest, most polite and most patriotic teens in the country. You have probably seen them in color guards throughout the community during Veterans' & Memorial Day ceremonies, parking cars at various events and always lending a helping a hand wherever needed within the community.
On April 21st, 2008, twenty-eight of our cadets were bestowed a great honor by being named Ambassadors for the City of Sarasota by Mayor Lou Ann Palmer. Not only was this a huge honor for our cadets and our school, but it has given us a huge responsibility to represent the City of Sarasota in Beijing, China with the utmost pride, respect and honor.
Won’t you please consider helping us make this opportunity a reality? Our cadets have worked tirelessly throughout the community for over a year now and have fallen drastically short of our original $188,000 goal ($4180.00 per student). We are nearing the end of our fundraising efforts and now need to turn to you, OUR community, family and friends.
If everyone within our community would send in just $1.00, we could easily meet or even exceed our goal of now $90,000!
PLEASE! Won’t you consider giving back to our cadets a small token of what they’ve given to Sarasota in terms of support, respect and honor!!! They really need your help now!

TO BENEFIT THE SARASOTA MILITARY ACADEMY CADETS!
On March 29th and 30th from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm, cadets from the Sarasota Military Academy will be holding a HUGE garage sale / flea market in a 9500 sq. ft. warehouse at 1714 Independence Blvd., just off of Northgate Blvd & North 301.
All proceeds of this sale will benefit our cadet’s trip to Beijing, China in June of 2008 where they will perform in a combined orchestra for the pre-game Olympic celebrations!
If you would like to participate in this sale as a vendor, you can reserve a 12x12 spot with one 6ft table for $25.00. Access for set up is currently available.

Barrel Race Event
On Saturday, February 16th a barrel race was held in honor of all the cadets and chaperones heading to Beijing China! A fun time was had by all who attended! Over 200 horses were signed up to race for the winning pot.
We were honored by a visit from Buccaneer Defensive End George White #91, who also brightened the day for a group of special guests, Rick Goff and his family.(family of Denise Lee, abducted Charlotte county mom) Our thoughts and prayers are with this family during this difficult time!
A special thank you goes out to those who made this event possible. All the riders and event planners from NBHA (National Barrel Horse Association) especially, Boyd and Roxanne. All those with the Manatee Posse’ Grounds and of course our SMA Cheerleaders and Sarge for enduring hours out in the heat to once again support another group within our school! You’re the Best!
