Welcome back everyone. I hope you had a great summer. As you can see, this campus has been buzzing with the addition of our new building. It’s beautiful and exciting. This is the first year I can remember actually seeing adequate classrooms for all our students.
We had our first formation this morning and the cadets looked good. Over 600 students standing quietly paying respects to the flag as the sun rose over the flagpole. It doesn’t get much better than that.
We are still dealing with the parking issue. The City indicated they would not be renewing our parking on their lot by the railroad tracks, so we are trying to find other options. More on that to follow very soon. As it is, students are authorized to park in the outside parking spaces of the new lots. They should see Monika for a parking permit. At this point, only seniors will be allowed passes because of a limited number of spaces. We will solve this problem. We only need about 20 more spaces to meet our needs. Not impossible.
We have some issues that periodically come up in the new building. They are being dealt with promptly by our contractor. Most of the wrinkles will be out of the system in about sixty days. The new gym floor is scheduled for installation this semester, as is the field for equestrian and drill training. We are waiting on the contractors to move their equipment in the field to install an irrigation system and to lay sod. Then we will install the new gym floor.
After the gym floor is installed, we should begin the remodeling of the old cafeteria. The new gym will serve interimly as the cafeteria space. By January, we expect to have the renovations completed in the old cafeteria space. At the point, we will have a new, modernized cafeteria, a reception area and offices for administration, and a rifle range for after school rifle team practice. I think you’ll like it.
